Apartment Accommodations

Native Glasgow offers 64 apartments in studios and one-bedroom layouts, all with fully equipped kitchens containing refrigerators, ovens, stovetops, and microwaves. Basic studios include king-size beds and dining tables, while premium units add washer/dryers and separate sitting areas. Penthouses feature private balconies with rooftop views of Glasgow city centre. Original building elements like terrazzo flooring, timber wall-panelling, and historic safes are preserved throughout.

On-Site Dining

The property houses two restaurants: The Anchor Line Bar and Restaurant serves prime Scottish beef cuts and local seafood like grilled salmon with Shetland mussels, with mains from £13 to £26, plus wine by the glass. Breakfast includes a full Scottish option for £8.95. Di Maggio's offers Italian-American favorites for click-and-collect, including pizza, pasta, and burgers.

Location & Transportation

Situated in Glasgow's City Centre neighborhood, the aparthotel is steps from George Square and Merchant City. Nearby landmarks include Gallery of Modern Art (300 meters), Glasgow Cathedral (1.5 km), and The Necropolis (1 km). The area features great shopping, with Buchanan Street 150 meters away.

Hotel Services

Services include 24-hour reception, concierge, and free high-speed Wi-Fi. The property does not accommodate group events or parties, including stag and hen parties. Safety features include carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors, and window guards.

Building History

Housed in a former Anchor Line Shipping Company headquarters, the seven-storey Art Deco building features a façade adorned with nautical emblems, seaweed, and shell details. The interior retains original elements including glazed tiles, terrazzo flooring, and fireplaces.

“Native Glasgow immediately impresses with its art-deco design, cleverly incorporating historical elements of the Anchor Line building, a detail that enriches the stay. The self-catering apartments, coupled with the hotel's prime location near George Square, create a blend of independence and accessibility that appeals to both leisure and business travelers; I found the penthouse terraces particularly appealing. It's a comfortable and stylish base for exploring Glasgow, offering a unique sense of place.”

adequate stay in city center

central location helpful staff easy access missing link limited space parking discount
the hotel's location was indeed central. the shopping centers were a short walk away. queen street station was also very close, around 3 minutes by foot. the staff members were helpful.
the website promised discounted parking at a nearby ncp car park. however, no link was provided in the confirmation email. the hotel had very limited public spaces. the sitting area next to reception was tiny and windowless.
